Golf Day Supporters and Friends
Organising and enabling the annual Golf day is a considerable undertaking. This could not be done without the dedicated help of many people: our Golf Day Supporters and Friends.
Organisers and Workers
Mary is a retired Clinical Nurse Specialist from Matlock. She has organised the golf tournament since its inception. She does not play golf but – fortunately – knows a lot of people who do. Mary organises team bookings, sponsorship, prizes and social format
Ewen is a retired Paediatric Surgeon from Sheffield. He is our golf brain, having designed the tournament, and set the rules and is, himself, a very keen golfer
David is a member of Chevin Golf Club and is the chief “chaser-upper” of Derby team entries.
Anthea is a key worker, beavering away all day and managing the Putting Competition
Penny is raffle ticket sales person in chief. She has become a much valued addition to the team in recent years.
A family affair. Paul and Debbie White checking the team scores before prize giving.
Paul has designed a computerised scoring system which screens the leader board throughout the day while simultaneously showing a slide show of Tiny Tim Trust’s activities throughout the previous year.
Tony Hewitt of Eggleston Steel.
Eggleston Steel have been supporters and sponsors since we began in 1997. Tony enters a team and acts as starter for part of the day.
We are indebted to our regular and other volunteers who join as and when they are available.
Martin is a member of Tiny Tim’s Donations Committee. Having recently retired, he now helps out with the on course wager.
Andy, the well known broadcaster and Derbyshire face, has acted as MC during the evening reception of Golf Day.
More about Andy is available here.
Carole and Morton Joynes and Lisa Rowbottom
Carole, Morton and their daughter, Lisa, are responsible for on course hospitality. This takes the form of a glass of beer or soft drink after the 10th hole. This task requires staying power, especially if the wind is cold, as it takes about 6 hours for the whole field to pass through.
One of our regular volunteers is photographer Roy Battelle. Roy gives up his time to take team photographs during the day and photographs of the supper and prize giving event in the evening. In recent years, he has disappeared late afternoon in order to return in the evening with prints of photographs of teams taken earlier in the day.
Roy’s generous contribution over the years has provided us with a fascinating photographic history of our tournament.
We are always looking for volunteers to:
- Act as starters
- Man the wager sites
- Sell raffle tickets
- Fetch and carry
If you would like to help us in these or any other way, please let us know by completing and submitting this Golf Day Contact Form. Many thanks.
