Nineteenth Annual Tiny Tim Am-Am Golf Tournament
Chevin Golf Club, Duffield, Derbyshire
Friday, September 4th 2015
It proved to be difficult to get a full field this year. An early flurry of bookings was followed by a summer of slow progress. Our final total was 31 teams booked, well enough for a most interesting day’s play.
However, after a dismal, cloudy week, the sun came out for us and our teams enjoyed a fantastic day’s golf. This was largely due to the fabulous condition of the course at Chevin and to the most welcoming atmosphere that the Club offers.
The evening was fully booked and we could have done with many more places than the Clubhouse can accommodate. New chef Phil only arrived on Tuesday, September 1st, and it seemed like a tall order – 124 diners – seated at 7.15pm. Meals, including special dietary requests were pre booked but it still seemed to us to be an almost impossible task. But – not so, Phil and team managed to produce delicious hot food on time to all of our guests and the food was declared ‘ the best that Tiny Tim Trust has ever managed to offer’.
MC, Phil Tooley, did a great job in keeping us all to time and Stephen Iredale did another great job on the auction. The surprise intervention of young Jed in encouraging the bidding on his Grandfather’s lot led Stephen to hand over his gavel. A great night for young Jed!
Special guest, Para Olympian, Martin Mansell, gave a fascinating talk and presented the prizes. Martin gave us much food for thought and we hope to see him again in the future.
How much did the Trust raise? When all the money is, we think it will be in excess of £7000. A really big thank you to all who supported a wonderful day.
