Past Fund Raising and Other Trust Events
What happened in 2013?
Reports and information about events previously run by, or on behalf of, the Trust can be accessed by clicking on the event title or description below: Silverstone Half Marathon – 3rd March 2013 – Kevin and David White both took part in the Silverstone Half Marathon in March. Pie and Pea Supper @ The Boat Inn – 15th March 2013 – Our thanks to Lorraine, David and family at The Boat Inn, Cromford for extending their hospitality to Tiny Tim Trust in order to raise funds and awareness of who and why we are. All the income from the pie and pea suppers was donated to us and this combined with the proceeds from the raffle (a high quality picnic hamper – donated) and money raised by John, Chris and Rob Gill (Please Y’Self), during the evening, amounted to the fantastic total of £547.20. Equally important was the fact that such great fun was had by all. The band are great favourites in Derbyshire and they did us proud. Martin Wilkinson (TTT member) joined them to perform a rendition of Johnny Be Good and he and his dance partner, Pauline, performed an impressive tango to one of the band’s rock/skiffle numbers. Tiny Tim’s very own talent show!! TTT leaflets were on every table and while many had not previously heard of the charity, others had gone on line to investigate our website in order to fully understand our aims and objectives before coming to the event. Edinburgh Marathon – 26th May 2013 – Kevin and David White duly ran in the Edinburgh Marathon, their first attempt at the full distance. We are delighted to report that they competed in great style, both finishing within their estimated times. Although all of the sponsorship money is not yet collected, it looks as if they will have raised in excess of £700. Well done, men …. what a great result! Winchester Tough Mudder – Sunday 9th July 2013 Not content with their great work at the Edinburgh Marathon, Kevin and David were members of a 10-man, mainly London-based, team competing in this 12 mile, 25 obstacle race, where getting covered in mud seems to be the principal objective! The whole team competed for Tiny Tim Trust which is quite remarkable since only Kevin resides in Derbyshire. This type of race (some details can be seen here) is really stamina-sapping stuff and we thank the two men and their team mates for this their fund raising work for us. The Complex Behaviour Service from The Community Hospital in Derby undertook a sponsored walk around Youlgreave and ran a cake sale both on behalf of the Tiny Tim Trust. They raised the magnificent sum of £1,005.91. We are truly grateful for this magnificent effort for the Trust. Please look at the letter here which they sent to us with their cheque.
Matlock Water Polo Club We were delighted when, out of the blue, Matlock Water Polo Club asked if we would like to be their sponsored charity for 2012. Naturally we said ‘yes, please’ immediately. They proved to be very loyal and committed partners to the Trust and raised a total of £1,366 for us. The Trust would like to wish the Club continued success in what it does and for the charities it supports. Silverstone Half Marathon 2012 Kervin and David White both competed in the Silverstone Half Marathon on a hot spring day in March 2012 raising over £350 for the Trust. Look out for further fund raising runs from this ecterprising pair. Christmas Event 2012
To celebrate a successful year for the Trust and to look forward to the initiatives that will drive the Trust forward in 2013, the members of the Executive Committee laid on a drinks and nibbles evening for patrons, members and parents in December. The event was enjoyed by all and several new fund raising initiatives were discussed.
Cromford Christmas Market Through the close involvement of one of our Trustees, Debbie White, the organisers of the 2012 Cromford Christmas Market included the Trust in their list of beneficiaries. The Market was a great successand a fine exsmple of inter-village cooperation. All of the event was under cover, courtesy of many square metres of canvas supplied by the neighbouring villages of Dethick, Lea and Holloway.
